“Thangalaan”  Reviews:

This balance between spectacle and substance is where the film thrives. He gives the plot a tender yet empowering dimension with his relationship to Parvathy Thiruvothu’s Gangamma. While the film’s sync sound approach has received backlash, its visual storytelling and performances were widely acclaimed, particularly Vikram.

Ranjith’s signature handling of colonial and caste repression is using his multi-dimensional characters, from Pasupathy’s Brahmin astrologer to Daniel Caltagirone’s English officer Lord Clement, to represent the complex power structures.

On the whole, Thangalaan is an engaging experience; a mix and match of tribal folklore with magic realism interwoven into a historical narrative that you may look forward to visually appealing.
